The thirteen artists gathered in this exhibition share more than a dedication to painting; they share a history. Many years ago, they met in a painting class at the Corcoran College of Arts and Design, taught by DC artist Mira Hecht. What began as a shared space for learning became, over the years, something much rarer: a sustained artistic community. Calling themselves the E Street Artists - a name drawn from the E Street entrance to the Corcoran art studios they once passed through - they have created community and a committed critique group grounded in inquiry and trust.
This exhibition marks fifteen years of a shared commitment to ongoing study and dialogue. Joy is found not only in the making but also in the community they have forged together.
