We visited Samuel Tucker Elementary School in Alexandria, VA with our school teachers and principals yesterday. While we toured the building, we had an opportunity to get exposed to fundamentals of elementary education in the US. We walked in and out of classrooms, study areas, art and music studios, gym, cafeteria etc. Tucker teachers were quite generous to share their ideas about teaching and learning. Later, everyone gathered in the school library and had an informal discussion about principal-teacher partnership, parent-teacher association and its impact on education, ways of teaching in different disciplines, motivational factors, teacher evaluations etc. Principal Rene Paschal, Assistant Principal Adaarema Kelly, Teachers Becky De Louise, Monica Koski and many others shared their experience with us. It was an amazing experience to also realize how much passion we share about education whether in the US or in Azerbaijan. Thank you Principal Paschal and Tucker colleagues for this memorable day.
