Identity in Azerbaijan is a widely debated subject matter these days. Dr. Brenda Shaffer shares her thoughts about the evolution of identity in Azerbaijan since its independence. She elaborated on roots and traditions of tolerance and multiculturalism in the country. Dr. Shaffer is a Senior Advisor for Energy at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. A foreign policy and international energy specialist, she focuses on global energy trends and policies, politics and energy in the South Caucasus and greater Caspian and Black Sea regions. Dr. Shaffer is a research faculty member at the U.S. Naval Post-Graduate School.
